A lot of the songs in the back catalogue were written for various bands and other musical projects, including musicals for children which I wrote when teaching in the 70's. These musicals have some of my best melodies and words, but it is tricky to pull songs out of their context when they suddenly stop working.
Looking through these musicals, I found Faerie Trees, one of my favourite folk-style songs written for an unperformed children's musical written in the Irish style, which has made it to this CD after 25 years! This is one of my favourite dulcimer tunes and he words emerged after studying Celtic faerie tree mythology (see the Irish tree of life symbol opposite), while falling asleep under a tree having just eaten some magic mushrooms (this was before I became a sensible human being?) - I woke up and the words were there somehow.
